Genetic Interest Group - Working to benefit all people affected by genetic disorders

How helpful is our site?

Information for patients and families.

Below you will find information about Inheritance Patterns, Chromosome Problems, Genetic Testing and Information About Your Genetic  Appointment. There is also a Frequently Asked Questions leaflet which will be useful if you are going to be speaking to a specialist about genetic testing, and a detailed Genetic Glossary. This information is designed to be used alongside the discussions you have with a genetic specialist. It has been produced with the help of patients and families from across Europe who have first hand experience of genetic disease and genetic testing. We hope therefore to have covered all the issues that are important to you and your family.

The information comes in 2 formats. If you want to look at the information on your computer, click the A4 format. Alternatively, you can print the information out as a booklet by clicking the ‘booklet’ format.

We would like to thank all the patients, families and support organisations from across Europe who have helped to create these leaflets. We are immensely grateful for their contribution to this work.

NB: please note that the files below are large (1mb) so will take a few moments to download
