Help and information for viewing the video clips.

Video quality on ordinary internet connection

Please note online video can be poor quality when viewed on a dial up internet connection (56k or less). You may find the download versions better.

  • Close extra website windows: If you have extra website windows open (for other websites) these may reduce the quality of online video clips, quality may be improved if you close them.
  • Time of day: the internet can be more crowded (slow) after 5pm.
  • Delay: There is often a delay of 10 seconds to a couple of minutes before a vidow clip begins to stream to your computer.

1.What's the Choice ?

When you select a video on our website you may choose from the following formats and levels of quality:

Windows Player:
For Ordinary connection.
For Broadband connection.
Download to view offline.


Please note: Download and Broadband are high quality. Whilst viewing via a dial up connection is low quality.

2.Choose a video format.

If you have not viewed video online before your browser may require a free 'player' in order to play video. The following explains how to get the Windows player.

How to get the free Windows playerWhen you select a windows media clip, if your computer does not have the free windows media player - a box may appear on screen asking if you want to download and install the windows media player.

3.Select the quality

For Windows player:
pick one of the following:
For Ordinary connection.
For Broadband connection.
Download to view offline

Full screen viewing

Windows Player: To view the downloadable windows media clips in full screen mode:

  1. Open the video file in Windows Media Player.

  2. Select 'View' then select 'Full screen'.

Some of the dowloadable video clips are large files and may take some time to download.

  • The download clips are 'zipped'. Download the 'zip' file to a folder on your computer that you will remember.
  • After the download is complete - go to that folder and double click the 'zip' file.

ZIP FILE

  • If your computer has WinZip - it will launch. If WinZip does not launch then you may need to download a free copy of WinZip from the WinZip website - click here for the WinZip website.
  • From Winzip select EXTRACT - this will take you to the 'extract' screen. In the 'extract' screen - select a folder for the Video Clip e.g. C:\Temp
  • Select EXTRACT - the Clip and other included documents will unzip into your selected folder.
  • Close Winzip and go to the folder with the downloaded clip.
  • To view the clip and/or other documents included with the clip simply double-click them.
