Policy Analyst

Main areas of work are:

As GIGs Policy Analyst I work within the GIG Policy team, comprising our Director, our Assistant Director, and our Public Affairs Officer on a range of issues and areas including:

• Responding to consultations from UK Government departments, health and medicine governance bodies, European institutions, research institutions, and others, on issues that affect the lives of the patients and families that our members represent.
• Keeping abreast of the issues in the Parliaments of the UK, and Europe that will have an impact on our members.
• Working with our representatives in Wales and Scotland on issues relating to their devolved region of the UK. 
• Lobbying parliamentarians to advocate legislation that supports or facilitates good quality biomedical research.
• Assisting our member groups with policy issues at their request.
• Working with other organisations to further the impact of GIGs policy work.
• I am the alternative member for Alastair Kent, representing the European Genetic Alliances Network on the Committee for Advanced Therapies at EMEA.
